If you would like to see how my cover was made from start to finish, the wonderful people at Tugboat Design have blogged about the process here. You can see how the creative process takes twists and turns, trials and errors, before ending up with something that makes you say… ‘Aha! That’s it!’
I collaborated closely with the designer on the concept, which is truly unique and visually appealing. As a visual artist and a self-proclaimed perfectionist myself, I worked hard at the details and Deborah at Tugboat kindly obliged. This was the really fun part of the process for me, as creating a cover for your book is the most exciting challenge on the road to publication. So many authors who are traditionally published never get this opportunity. My advice – enjoy it, experiment and hire a designer!
